Most disputes are resolved by the people involved themselves.
Where resolution is not achieved by those involved, then a third party can help. People turn to a local manager, trusted colleague or friend to help them reach resolution.
The next step may involve someone in authority with more power; a senior manager, a union representative or Human Resources.
At this point the people involved or the organisation may use formal procedure to resolve the issues.
A further step may be to seek legal advice or external consultancy. Ensuring procedure is followed and that rights, duties and responsibilities are met; minimising risk and liability.
If the situation remains unresolved then at this stage you may feel you have done all you can. The situation will feel beyond recovery. At this point it is natural not to want any further involvement with the other party. The only option seems to be to end the relationship.
