CMC Workplace Mediation – Regulation

BERR & ACAS are looking to the Civil Mediation Council (CMC) to provide registration and accreditation of the employment and workplace mediation sectors.
There has been a long running debate within the mediation sector over regulation, accreditation, standards and control.
The CMC is taking up this challenge and looking to financial support from BERR to achieve this.
The CMC already registers civil and commercial mediation providers. The CMC is now moving to include individual practitioners as well as incorporate the employment & workplace mediation sectors.
A range of requirements will include training, observed practice, minimum case loads, insurance, and a complaints process.
